Indy Pickup 1111 grew out of a simple observation: people were paying $99–$500 to have junk haulers take their old appliances — appliances that were full of valuable steel and copper. Those haulers were paying to dump the items in landfills. It didn't make sense.
We already operated a full-service recycling facility at 3013 Stanley Avenue in Indianapolis. We had the infrastructure to process scrap metal. We had the trucks. We had the crew. All we needed was a better model.
So we built one. Instead of charging hundreds of dollars and dumping items in landfills, we'd charge $11 to cover fuel and routing, then recycle the metal at our own facility. The scrap value covers our costs. You get a clean garage. We get recyclable material. Nothing goes to waste.
Since launching, we've completed thousands of pickups across the Indianapolis metro. We've maintained a 4.9-star rating from 2,173+ Google reviews. And we've kept thousands of tons of metal out of landfills — all while keeping the price at $11.
